How It Works

This planner maps your child's age onto feeding bands drawn from American Academy of Pediatrics and CDC infant nutrition guidance, then lays those feeds out across the awake window between your wake-up time and bedtime.

  • Milk feeds: each band has a typical number of feeds per 24 hours and a typical interval. Feeds are placed at that interval starting from wake-up; any remaining feeds fall overnight and are summarised separately.
  • Amounts: bottle volumes are per-feed ranges for breast milk or formula. Nursing is shown as session length instead, since intake is not measured at the breast; a good latch and steady weight gain matter more than minutes.
  • Weight-based estimate: under 6 months, a common rule of thumb is roughly 2.5 oz of milk per pound of body weight per day, capped near 32 oz. Enter a weight to see that figure alongside the age-band range.
  • Solids: from around 6 months, meals and snacks are added at even points across the day. Portions start at a tablespoon or two and grow; milk stays the main source of nutrition for the whole first year.
  • Toddlers: from 12 months, milk moves to a cup with meals rather than standalone feeds, so the schedule shifts to three meals and two snacks.

These are general guidelines, not medical advice. Babies vary widely; hunger cues, wet nappies, and steady growth tell you more than any schedule. Talk to your pediatrician before starting solids, changing formula, or if feeding or weight gain concerns you.
